Meet Todd

Todd Ritchie, a native of Georgetown, TX, graduated from Texas Tech University in December of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences.

Ritchie was a member of the Red Raider Baseball Team from 2012-2014 which included a trip to the NCAA College World Series during his senior season. During his career at Texas Tech, he was the only Red Raider to start in all three outfield positions. As a junior, Ritchie ranked 15th in the Big 12 Conference in batting average .315. During Big 12 play, Ritchie led the Red Raiders in batting .600 with bases loaded, led the team in batting .478 with runners in scoring position, and led the team in bating .355 with two outs (the best average by a Red Raider since 2010).  Ritchie also led the team with seven walks against nationally-ranked opponents.

Highlights of Ritchie’s career include tying a school record with five walks at No. 20 Oklahoma State during his senior season. This is only the fourth time a Red Raider has recorded five walks in a single game and the first time since 1999. During his junior season, Ritchie led team batting .516  with runners on base. This was the best average by a Red Raider with runners on base in over 12 years.

Before Texas Tech, Ritchie played at Howard College for two seasons (2011-2012) for head coach Britt Smith. During his time at Howard, Ritchie helped lead the team to back-to-back Western Junior College Athletic Conference titles and NJCAA Region V runner-up finish in 2012. As a sophomore, he batted .375 (42-for-112) with 31 runs, six doubles, 17 RBI, 11-of-13 stolen bases, .482 on-base percentage and committing just two fielding errors with a .964 fielding percentage in the outfield.

Ritchie is also a three-year varsity letterwinner at Georgetown High School. As a senior in 2010, he batted .417 with 24 stolen bases and struck out just twice. His senior year, Ritchie was first team all-district, Cen-Tex All-Star and was named Georgetown High School Offensive Player of the Year. During his tenure at Georgetown, he helped team to three consecutive district championships.

Outside of baseball, Ritchie enjoys hunting with his German shorthaired pointer Brantley and spending time with his family. He is passionate about teaching young athletes not only the techniques of baseball, but also how to love the game. He understands he would not be where he was today without coaches who were not only excellent coaches but also caring people.

Ready to start improving?
